Much like this fall, the doors opened to Messmer High School in 1926 for a group of eager incoming students. Like the students at Messmer today, the students were excited to develop their faith, build their knowledge and learn to lead.

However, one can only wonder if Archbishop Sebastian Messmer, Fr. Celestine Bittle (the first principal and a Capuchin) and the other founders of Messmer could have dreamt how fully their mission would be fulfilled over 80 years. This school year alone, Messmer will serve over 1,000 students of diverse social, ethnic and economic backgrounds. |

The mission of Knowledge, Faith, and Leadership is alive and well.
Messmer continues to excel in the classroom. In addition to our strong core classes in Math, English, Social Studies, Science, and Theology, Messmer offers a variety of computer courses, and an Introduction to Business Course that brings a number of community leaders into the classroom.
We also continue to develop our Band and Fine Arts Programs at both the high school and the prep school. Our students are able to participate in after-school activities such as Forensics, Mock Trials and even try their hand at the Robotics Program. This year we will also be fielding boys' and girls' teams in seven sports. |
In 2006-07, Messmer will continue to be on the cutting edge of technology in the classroom. We are pleased to announce Messmer will open its “Distance Learning Lab” this fall. Messmer students will participate in classes with students from other schools through a live data feed, which means it is in real time. Messmer will offer such classes as Introduction to Law and Spanish for Spanish Speakers to students at other schools, while Messmer students will be able to take courses in Accounting, Advanced Placement Calculus, Women’s Studies and Medical Terminology. |
